A Closed-Loop Design Process

My approach strives to create generative spaces for participatory research for those at the margins—crafting authentic, inclusive communication strategies and co-designing services with the people who use, deliver, and maintain them. I center the needs of the community and embrace iterative progress within a closed-loop design process—where insights from lived experiences continuously inform and refine solutions.

Using mixed-methods research approaches—including ethnographic studies, interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiries, stakeholder mapping, journey mapping, threshold mapping, and usability testing—I identify opportunities and uncover actionable insights. Through rigorous synthesis processes such as GIS mapping and data visualization, I translate complex information into clear, compelling insights that inform actionable recommendations and shape strategic direction.

My wide-ranging experience in civic innovation, design, and research has sharpened my ability to navigate both micro-level user interactions and macro-level policy systems. I frequently collaborate with—and often lead—truly cross-sectoral teams that include developers, designers, behavioral scientists, urban planners, and stakeholders from government and civil society.

I’m committed to paying forward the mentorship I once received, and I actively mentor junior designers, review portfolios, and serve as a design critic for academic design courses.
